Join Rev. Elder Darlene Garner in Washington, DC on October 10-11, 2009 at the National Equality March

I am Rev. Elder Darlene Garner, a Christian lesbian woman of African and Cherokee descent and a citizen of the United States. I will be in Washington DC on the weekend of 10-11 October to join with thousands of others in demonstration of the demand for equal protection and treatment through the laws of the nation.

This demonstration is very important to me. Let me tell you why.

·         My ancestors were made to feel the lash of the whip and to endure the Trail of Tears because the laws of the land neither recognized their humanity nor acknowledged their full citizenship.

·         My children and grandchildren struggle today as the inheritors of the legacy of discrimination in this country.

·         My beloved partner Rev. Candy Holmes and I work hard every day, pay our taxes to the government, and yet are denied the right to gain legal recognition of our commitment to one another and access to the legal benefits of marriage are withheld from us.

·         My heart, mind, body, and soul are sick and tired of me and my people being treated as less than the FULL citizens that we are!

If you are sick and tired of inequality, join me in DC. If you are sick and tired of discrimination, join me in DC. If you are sick and tired of being sick and tired, JOIN ME IN DC!

Help us make a difference!  Information available on the organization's website.  Check it out and see you in DC!
